Little Black Designs - Dee Collins
Little Black Designs is the passion project of Clarksburg, West Virginia, native Dee Collins.
Dee graduated in 1993 from West Virginia University, having studied textiles, design, and fashion merchandising. After college, she moved to Florida and worked as a makeup artist at a high-end salon in Boca Raton. Then she traveled further south to Miami where she gained invaluable experience at California designer Leon Max’s high-end South Beach retail boutique, Max studio. Although Max was absent most of the time on the opposite coast, his multimillion-dollar business thrived with the help of Dee’s management — running the boutique, working his trade and market shows in southern Florida, and sketching new designs.
Armed with vision, talent, experience, and desire, Dee decided to return home to West Virginia to establish her dream: a design studio for women’s fashions. She spent nearly two years implementing a business plan and eventually received SBA funding. Soon thereafter, she set up shop in her hometown and has since built a loyal client base. Dee intends to keep growing her business in order to create fashions that flatter every size, shape, and style.
